iOS leak unveils iPhone 6S features and a possible new device

Just yesterday, app developer Steve Troughton-Smith leaked a new keyboard found in the iOS 9 beta code that is much larger than the iPads we are used to. If properly scaled, it should expand over the iPad Air (2)'s 9.7-inch 2048-by-1536 display, which should complement a laptop-sized screen rather than a tablet. People have been inferring from this leak that Apple is currently manufacturing or at least designing a new, much larger device.

Many are claiming that it is the long-awaited iPad Pro, which has been rumored for years to have a screen size of over 12 inches. The photo leaked shows a few more changes in addition to the larger size, including enlarged softkeys, redo and tab keys as well as a numerical/symbol row at the top.

Of course, this could all be a big practical joke or an attention-grabber to amp up the public for their new device releases this autumn, considering Apple has seen a decline in the market. However, Apple has a history of even more significant leaks. The iOS 6 beta leaked a preview of a larger keyboard for the 4-inch iPhone 5 screen display. The iOS 8 beta revealed various enhanced resolutions that were for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Furthermore, AppleInsider discovered eight features for the iPhone 6S.

  1. New case color (rose gold)!
  2. Force Touch will be the most momentous addition. This will bring more input methods and will allow handwritten signatures – something desperately needed to expand the market and will make e-signing less of a hassle.
  3. Pixel upgrade, possibly up to 12MB.
  4. Additional microphone better voice quality.
  5. A9 processor that comes with upgraded 2GB LPDDR4
  6. Alternative casing materials and internal mechanical redesign to fix the bending debacle.
  7. Limited editions of the 5.5-inch model that has a sapphire cover lens
  8. Improved Touch ID recognition rate (likely a way to bolster Apple Pay).
