Apple’s next press event scheduled for October 22

Fresh off the heels of unveiling and launching two new versions of the iPhone and the mobile operating system iOS 7, it seems like Apple could just be getting started with new product announcements.

The day after the September press event, rumors started circulating that on October 22, Apple would be holding its next one that would focus on a different product line. Now it seems that date is all but confirmed, as well as what will be given some stage time.

According to AllThingsD, the company will unveil the latest update to the iPad and iPad mini as well as give launch dates for the Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks—the new version of the computer operating system.

"The fifth-generation iPad is expected to feature a thinner, lighter design akin to the iPad mini's, and an improved camera," the article reads. "It will run Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip. The second-generation iPad mini will be upgraded with a retina display and also likely see the A7 incorporated into its innards."

The piece went on to mention the possibility of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which was a major feature of the iPhone 5s, being incorporated into the new iPad line.

The company has declined to comment on the these rumors, but if the October 22 date is correct, there is a good chance that some kind of official invitation will be sent out in the next week. And now, just as IT departments are starting to get a handle on the new smartphone, there looks to be new devices coming down the pipeline.
