Apple extends push into the enterprise

Over the last few years, Apple has been focusing more on the enterprise. From the increased presence of a business team in the retail locations to covering enterprise specific features of the new operating systems during the Worldwide Developers Conference the plan to grow in this area is clear and it seems to be working,

A new report from JAMF Software and Dimensional Research polled IT executives at enterprise firms across the U.S. and found that the use of Apple products has reached a new high. Nine of of 10 organizations officially support Apple products – iPhones (91 percent), iPads (89 percent) and Mac computers (60 percent). This doesn't mean there is a single iPhone in the office as 60 percent said they support more than 100 Apple devices and nearly 20 percent support thousands.

On top of that, 98 percent of respondents expect the number of Apple devices to grow within their organizations by at least 25 percent over the next three years. This has lead to 20 percent of companies announcing that they plan to hire additional staff to help manage and setup devices.

When compared to previous years, this is quite the change. In 2011, 67 percent of companies said that less than 10 percent of end user devices were from Apple.

With more companies bringing the iPhone, iPad and Mac into the office, IT departments need to make sure they fully understand how to manage these devices and operations systems. An Apple support service can help any company set up a system that takes this into account and can be used to improve operations.
