Apple confirms October 22 press event

Last week we reported on the rumors of Apple's October 22 press event, believed to showcase the next generation of the iPad line, Mac OS X Mavericks and a slew of potential new hardware. Today we can officially confirm some things—mainly the date and that company is far from done unveiling new products.

Aside from the date, time (10 a.m. pacific time) and location (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco), "we still have a lot to cover" is the only thing written on the invitation. It also features multiple pastel colored ovals (in the shape of the top of the Apple logo) that are reminiscent of iOS 7.

What is not known, is everything else. So it is time to fire-up the rumor mill again and see what could be coming down the pipeline. By all accounts, the previous speculation still leads the pack as Apple wants to have new versions of its high ticket items ready to go before the Holiday shopping season.

Amit Daryanani, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets, said in a recent Apple Insider article that he backs the iPad update rumor but added that a Retina iPad mini would outsell the fifth-generation iPad by nearly two-to-one with a 65 percent to 35 percent market share split.

We are in for another week of fierce speculation leading up to the next press event. IT departments are sure to have their eyes and ears open next week and organizations that have completed an iPad deployment should be ready for a wave of new devices.
